Story ideas
I was hardly thinking about a story-line; instead I wanted to make it a type of "historical lesson" about great houses in medieval periods.

I don't know if it should be lessons on "true" history, of ancient Europe, or a fictional world. The first is probably better, but requires a lot of research. So, my idea is to have one great house (different ones for different campaigns) which the player leads to glory.

This makes the story more flexible, because the campaign leader doesn't have to survive every mission - history teachs us that no-one can live forever.

The campaigns can be linked as in any other strategy game, but the player might be presented with a choice between campaigns.
